The Five
Ladywood Middleway
Our proposals provide a L-shaped apartment block, 12 storeys high rising to 15 storeys on the corner of Ladywood Middleway and Leyburn Road.
The building would be set back from Ladywood Middleway and Leyburn Road and we would provide mature landscaping by planting trees and hedgerows along the edges of the development site to form a leafy screen, separating the development from the roadside.
We would create a new footpath along the north side of Leyburn Road.
The development would include 59 car parking spaces, 10 motorbike spaces and 159 secure bicycle storage spaces on the lower ground floors.
The exterior of the building would be red brick with contrasting light grey masonry blocks.
There would be glazing to the ground floor and around the pedestrian entrance on the corner of Ladywood Middleway and Leyburn Road.
Light grey non-combustible cladding
would be used along the top of the building.
The scheme would provide a focal building on Ladywood Middleway and bring new life to a development site that has become rundown.

MIA Property Group wants to the disused social club building with a residential scheme of 144 homes
The Five would provide a mixed-tenure development of private and social homes to help meet a housing need outlined in the Birmingham Development Plan.
An application has been submitted to redevelop the site of a former social club in Birmingham to make way for a 15-storey apartment building.
Zayma Ltd has lodged plans with Birmingham City Council to build the 15-storey block on the site of the former Ladywood Social Club, Ladywood Middleway, to create 144 residential properties.
The scheme comprises 61 one-bed, 72 two-bed and 11 three-bed apartments.
Additionally, the applicant intends to provide 59 car, 10 motorcycle and 159 cycle spaces. All car parking spaces will have an electric vehicle charging point.
A statement filed with the council on behalf of the applicant said: "This application represents the opportunity to redevelop a derelict brownfield site. This windfall site will assist in addressing the identified shortfall of new homes within the city.
The development site is in the Ladywood district, to the west of Birmingham City Centre.
It is next to the Ladywood police station and opposite the Norman Power Centre Care Home. There are many homes in the area, including in some blocks up to 15 storeys.
